A fishing town along the White Gull River. The river is wide here, full of cat-tails and wild animals, and marshy on the edges.
The inhabitants "look unhappy" and "seem to belong neither to the land nor to the water, but rather to be trapped between the two, their spindly stilted homes and sinking quays clustered awkwardly between the black water and the empty plains."[1] The river is inhospitable to the inhabitants and, though they rely on it for their livelihood, sudden storms and deaths by drowning are common.

Notable Locations[]
There is a diner just outside of town, to the South. Carpenter guesses its name: "Out here in the marshes, if it isn’t a Riverside Cafe, it’s a Waterside View."[1] The diner has an all-singing-all-dancing blessing machine out back branded to Jolly King Kipper.[1] It hosts fishing crews who (likely) follow "fisher-gods and money-gods and fryer-gods and lanterns-in-darkness" and who "spat when they spoke of the river."[1]
There is another diner inside the town itself.
- The Riverside Cafe where folks are familiar with the missing crew of The Intrepid.
- A Butcher Shop
- Tourist shops for "desperate anglers and lost hikers"
- An illuminated pier with a ramshackle boardwalk lined with neon shrines, all automatic blessing machines.
- The Sleepy Pilgrims Motel, formerly run by Stanton, which offers mattresses consecrated by the Jolly King Kipper.
- The Tatty Spine Bookshop devoted to The Waxen Scrivener run by Peterson.

The Disappearance of the Intrepid[]
Approximately a week before the start of the show, The Intrepid, a well-admired but small crabbing dinghy with a periwinkle hull, disappeared suddenly in a storm. Its crew of five also disappeared: Dyer, Slater, Smith, Butcher, and (the unpopular) Fuller.
The Intrepid, an elegant little crabbing dinghy with a striking periwinkle hull, was an object of much admiration up and down this stretch of the water.[1]
The Tatty Spine[]
Carpenter and Faulkner visit Peterson at the Tatty Spine in search of followers of the Trawler-man. Peterson directs them to Penda's Slake.
113 Longray Mansions[]
After confronting Stanton for suspecting the two Parish members, Faulkner receives the location of Roake's home just outside of Marcel's Crossing.
Carpenter and Faulkner arrive at the bungalow with their hostage, Paige, and are attacked by Roake's sentinel. Faulkner is severely injured.
Daggler and Hayward[]
Hayward finds the sainted Stanton and calls the situation in to Felix, before disposing of the saint.
Daggler and Hayward visit The Tatty Spine, and Daggler assaults Peterson.
They stay at the newly abandoned Sleepy Pilgrims Motel for a period during their investigation.
